My friend Dave is coming for my birthday

Greetings, readers. My buddy and brother Dave Trost is coming up tomorrow to visit me for my birthday. What a fantastic surprise. I’ll be turning 52 tomorrow and it will be nice to have Dave here. We’re planning on having birthday dinner at the Indian restaurant right underneath my apartment building. I suppose after that it will be back upstairs to watch movies or YouTube. Quite honestly, I would not mind just sitting and chatting about the old days. I love it when we reminisce.

Dave is able to take this two and a half day vacation because the poor boy cracked a bone in his ankle playing softball. That is a major ouch. Luckily for him, since he is planning to drive down for the visit, the walking boot is on his left foot. I don’t imagine we’ll be walking to Panera or any of the other eateries because I’m going to want my buddy to rest that foot as much as possible.

Another reason I don’t want Dave walking around town is that this just happens to be the week for our Central Pennsylvania Festival of the Arts. Panera and Sheetz will be crowded and who knows if we will even get a table. I might try something called OrderUp, which is an online service that will pick up food ordered from a restaurant and deliver it to your door. I think David will enjoy staying off his foot as much as he can.

Although Dave’s visit will be a short one, it has fallen on my birthday week and Arts Festival week. If Dave is feeling up to it, we might check out the food venders on the block nearest my building. I heard they have yummy corn dogs, bundt cake and funnel cake. That sounds like a treat for a person with a sweet tooth.

The weather, as is usual for this time of year where we have the Arts Fest downtown and the People’s Choice Festival in Boalsburg, is supposed to be warm and muggy with a chance of rain. That in itself is reason enough to stay in and play Yahtzee all evening. I can remember many an evening at Bear Spring Camps when Dave and I would play Yahtzee to pass the evening away. I still have very fond recollections of those nights. I even know where to find my Yahtzee game and score pads.

I’ll be certain to have a 12 pack of Coors Light so that when Dave arrives he can sit down and begin to enjoy his weekend. Usually we would walk together to get it, but this visit he gets pampered a bit. One of the movies that I know David will want to watch on Netflix is the Minions. My buddy just loves those yellow little characters.

The next blog entry we will be doing when we are together again next week will be a review of my new laptop computer. I won’t go into the full review here but I can give you a spoiler, I like it very much. Rebecca will be doing the blog tomorrow from home, which I am sure will be awesome.

Until I write again next week, have a great weekend, take care, and happy reading.

We are trying our new work schedule this morning

Greetings, readers. It is only 10:30 in the morning as we start this blog. In a week, Rebecca and I will be trying something new. In this instance I think new will be good. We will be switching our work hours to the morning. There a few reasons for this change.

First off, I have found myself getting more and more tired in the mid-afternoon. I really struggle between the hours of 2:00 and 3:00. No, I really don’t want to get hooked on 5-Hour Energy. So the next logical choice is to adjust our work hours. I’m always more awake and alive in the morning. So starting next Wednesday, we’ll begin work at either 9:45 and go until 12:30, on Wednesdays and Thursdays. I shall leave Rebecca Friday afternoons free in case she wants to pick up hours at her other job.

The other important reason is that I can spend time with my girlfriend Traci after that at about 12:30, and then take my nap in the afternoon if I wish. At Bear Spring Camps this summer, I would eat my big meal at 12:30, come down to the cabin and literally sleep until 4:00 when the afternoon boat ride occurred. Just call me Mr. Sleepyhead.

This new change will mean a few things for me, primarily the adjustment of my early morning routine. I don’t necessarily want to get up at 4:00 or anything strange like that, but I am used to checking Facebook, Twitter and emails, etc. I also enjoy a couple of hours of music to fully wake me up. I already get up at 6:30 and I will have to see how these routines fit in before 9:45.

Tomorrow will be back to our old schedule for two more days. We will see if I can stay awake. Haha. I do have ideas for Bear Spring Camps book 3 and they will need to be fleshed out. So we do have some work ahead of us to keep us busy and focused. Lack of focus equals lack of work. As I mentioned before I fully intend to either have a project finished by the end of July or have it well on its way to completion. I promised myself something that no one knows about until now. You, my readers, will be the first to know that if I do not produce this year I will not take my vacation next August. From now on I earn my week off.

On a very small side note, in approximately a week and a half, I will find out if I can get a job at Panera. If not, Sheetz, Dunkin’ Donuts, or a whole list of other places advertising for help will receive my application.

Until Friday afternoon, have a wonderful couple of days, take care, and happy reading.

Time to open up my chakras and more thoughts since yesterday

Greetings, readers. Thinking back to yesterday’s entry, I realized that it has been quite a long time since I’ve done chakra work. In years past I had someone who did massage and energy work on me, including clear out my chakras. Since he retired, I’ve had to do it myself with the aid of a very good YouTube video. It wasn’t quite the same, but I still think it worked.

After work hours yesterday, I was blown away by the fact that I slept from 4:00 pm until almost 7:00, then called Bingo, and shortly after my light supper, could again barely keep my eyes open. Research must be done.

I could be suffering from anemia, although I’m on a multi-vitamin. My blood sugar could be off, or it could be any number of things. That is why I am not the doctor making $50 an hour. After this blog entry is posted, Rebecca and I are going to type an email to my general doctor. I’m quite certain that he will want immediate blood work, which will require a bus or Zipcar to get there. I feel it is more than worth it. I do not wish to spend the rest of the winter lying around like an old rug.

Yesterday on Facebook a couple of friends did chime in and said that I was correct that the change of seasons might have something to do with it. Both of them suggested taking walks. I cannot run or jog, but I can indeed go for a stroll. I think I will take their advice.

This morning was dark and cloudy, and 41 degrees F. I’m still hoping for indian summer. I’ve lost track on whether we have had our warm weather for the year, or if a little more is yet to come. I would hate to think it is going to be cold from early October until April.

After I do my chakra work today, I will see how my knees feel and get a little exercise in. I have a couple of errands to do as well as go for coffee with Tracie. We will be going to our new Sheetz, which is close by and has great coffee.

In conclusion, I am going to write a note to the creator of the chakra video I watch to ask how many times a week or month that video should be viewed for optimum health. I am hoping he doesn’t reply with something like, as often as you need it. A more direct answer would be helpful..

I bid everyone a great weekend. Stay warm if it is cold outside. Take care and happy reading.

I’m puzzled about my low energy

Greetings, readers. Recently, things in my life have been on a definite up-swing. My daily schedule has stabilized, I now have a girlfriend, and the blog is coming along better than I’d ever hoped. But, yet, I’m taking more naps than ever before. I don’t think I’m depressed. I just feel a constant need to visit the sandman.

My therapist told me it might be because of the onset of the fall and winter season. At first, I agreed with her. But, I’ve been on a multi-vitamin for approximately the last ten days and I have even less energy. I have one thing to try before I call the doctor. I’m going to try to revamp my diet and cut out a lot of the junk food I eat. Wish me luck on that one, folks. If that idea doesn’t work, I will have to schedule an appointment with my doctor earlier than the one already on the books.

Helping to keep my mood up is my new girlfriend, Traci. We went out this morning and had a good time. But when she asked me what I was going to do this afternoon after work, I, without even thinking about it, said that I was going to take a nap.

I don’t feel suicidal, I don’t feel angry, nor do I think my anti-depression medication has stopped working, but something is amiss. I don’t like feeling this way. I’m not getting anything done creatively, and if I nap too much during the day, it throws my sleep cycle off.

Today, October 1st, began my brand new lease here at Addison Court Apartments. One thought that I had about my lack of energy, is that the building is mostly for seniors and handicapped folks. I’m not around people who do physical activities. There is no one to toss the football with or to get a pickup game of softball going. My physical activity, basically, consists of going to Panera Bread or our new Sheetz. I don’t know if lack of exercise makes one lethargic or not. I’m going to have to look into that. If it does, I might increase my exercise regimen before all the bad weather hits.

I’ll keep you up to date on how I’m feeling. Please leave me a comment or suggestion, either here or on Facebook, and let me know how you combat the fall and winter blahs.

Until tomorrow, have a good day, take care, and happy reading.
