Greetings, readers. Finally, I feel well enough to have a full day of things to do on the docket. I’m not certain what was going on the last few days with me, but I would do one chore and then I’d be tired as all get out. 😦 However, now I’m feeling much better and it’s time for a new entry. Today I’m going to write about my favorite TV show when I was a child; BATMAN, the classic 1960s series starring Adam West and Burt Ward.
There have been many incarnations of Batman from comic books to classic movies to recent box office hits. There have also been numerous cartoon series, but none of these were as delightful and fun as the 1960s series. It was a kind of a spoof. This Batman and Robin were not only ready to defeat the criminals but had a ‘teaching moment’ in each episode. What do I mean by that? The dynamic duo always taught younger viewers [their target audience], to be good citizens, be kind, not to litter, obey traffic laws etc. It was great fun and Adam West went over the top in his acting style. And of course, we cannot forget the famous Batusi, his disco style dance in the series premier.
Famous actors and actresses wanted to do guest villain appearances. Most notably, Cesar Romero as The Joker, Burgess Meredith as The Penguin, Julie Newmar and Eartha Kitt as The Catwoman. My favorite was Frank Gorshin as The Riddler. Many other people had one or two appearances. Shelley Winters was my favorite lesser used villains. She played Ma Parker, once, perhaps twice.Â
In the third season came the character, Batgirl. Yvonne Craig played the rather sexy character. Barbara Gordon, the daughter of the police commissioner, was her regular identity. There was a hint of a possible love interest between Bruce Wayne and Barbara. I personally think that if the series got a fourth season, that story arch might have been developed. 😉
Ok folks. There you go. I hope you enjoy this post. It was fun to write. Until Wednesday, take care, love one another, brighten someone’s day and as always, happy reading.
